Tuscany Regional Bocce Championships 2026: Petanque - Senior Pairs

The Regional Committee of Tuscany of the Italian Bowls Federation is pleased to announce the staging of the 2026 Tuscany Regional Championships in the Petanque discipline, Senior Doubles category.

The event will take place on Tuesday 2 June 2026, starting at 9:00 AM at Naturart Village, located at Via Toscana 101 in Pistoia. The event is organised by FIB Toscana in collaboration with Bocciofila Monsummanese, a leading sports club for Petanque in the Pistoia area.

As part of the event, an additional area will be set up for the public, where federal instructors will guide and play with everyone who wishes to try the sport. The name Pétanque was officially given to this game in 1910 and derives from the Provençal “ped tanco”, which means "feet anchored to the ground". Born in the south of France, Pétanque has always been an outdoor sport: squares, parks, and tree-lined avenues are its natural stage, where the scent of grass and the clinking of metal boules accompany every game. Pétanque is a deeply inclusive sport, allowing people of all ages, genders, and physical conditions to participate, thanks to its simple rules and minimal equipment required. This very accessibility has made it an extraordinary tool for socialising over time: friendships are formed between throws, jokes are exchanged, and moments of genuine fun are shared. The objective is to get your boules as close as possible to the small ball, trying to move away your opponents' ones, by throwing from a stationary position within a circle drawn on the ground. Simple to learn, exciting to play: Pétanque offers authentic emotions to both beginners and champions.

The competition is by entry for registered FIB members; the chance to try playing with federal instructors is free entry.
