Native to China and Taiwan, widely used in bonsai cultivation. A vigorous plant suitable for developing thick trunks and very resistant to pruning. It likes frequent watering, especially during the summer period, and a location in partial shade.

The trident maple is generally known for its vigour and contrasts with the delicacy and elegance of the Japanese maple.
This specimen, despite having a sinuous trunk, actually retains that sense of strength and age typical of this species.
