The 25 July is celebrated San Jacopo, Patron saint of Pistoia. To experience this festive day in a special way, even the little ones can discover the meaning of Saint James thanks to the activities organised by Naturart Village, located right in the heart of the city. July 25th will indeed be a day dedicated to history, creativity and games, with themed workshops for the little ones Small.
The day's programme
The morning will take place The Little Pilgrims' Journey – discovering San Jacopo. Curated by’Puntina hostess, this meeting guides children to discover the figure of Saint James and the meaning of pilgrimage. The laboratory is carried out in two shifts10:00 am - 11:00 am and 11:00 am - 12:00 pm.).
The activity includes:
- Welcome and introduction to the figure of the Saint;
- Decorating your own harness for the symbolic tournament;
- Motor game involving throwing soft balls at a dummy with a crest.;
- An illustrated history of Saint James;
- Workshop with shell decoration, symbol of the pilgrim.
The second event, The Palio di San Jacopo (miniature), will take place in the afternoon. Still in two shifts (16:30-17:30 and 17:30-18:30Caterina Bellezza, art historian and tour guide, will tell children about the atmosphere of the Palio di San Jacopo in a “mini” version. Before the Bear Carousel, indeed, in Pistoia they were running a jousting tournament among the city districts: a historical event that comes back to life at the Village in a playful format.

San Jacopo it is not just a religious anniversary, but also an occasion to discover the historical and cultural roots of Pistoia.
